This weekend presented our family with a bit of a physical challenge, and Mom didn't realize what was in store for her on her birthday: a 35 km bike ride! While that may not seem too horrible, the "small" hills really proved to be more taxing than we expected.
Igor did not even have to lift a paw while we were working our tails off!
Nonetheless, Mom was a trooper (she even surpassed us on the hills with her electric bike!) and we made it through! We biked to Karlštejn Castle and had a lovely lunch in the town. In order to walk to the castle, we had to hike an extreme incline which wasn't entirely worth it. However, we could definitely say we got our exercise in for the day and enjoyed the phenomenal views along the way.
Sunday was more of a rest day for us, with a focus on seeing the Charles Bridge. It was a simple and sweet way to enjoy one of our final days in Prague. Rather than dealing with another day of heat, the weather blessed us with an overcast day and limited tourists on the bridge. There were street performers, artists, and a beautiful river view.
Today was our travel day back to Berlin, but before we left, we had to make one quick pitstop: our lovely BIKO tour guide works at a coffee shop, so we made a surprise visit. She claimed that their espresso was the best espresso in all of Prague, and she definitely upheld her end of the deal. (However I still find German coffee better than Czech coffee! That is just a personal opinion of mine and maybe a bit biased :P).

The moment I stepped off the train and walked onto the platform in the Berlin Hauptbahnhof, I felt home. Although I enjoyed my time in Prague, being able to feel more confident with getting around and actually knowing the language spoken around me feels a little less overwhelming. My family and I are staying near Alexanderplatz, and I plan to show them as many Kiezes (neighborhoods) as I can before they leave! First stop this evening was an amazing Israeli restaurant that had the tastiest falafel I have ever tasted. I was able to show off my German skills and was actually complimented on my abilities by our server! Then afterwards, we walked to Amorino for a floral taste of Italy to end our night.
