I quickly learned when going to the library that there a few more rules for using the library than back at home. It reminded me of the processes I had to go through when visiting the archives last summer: Upon arrival, unless you are eating or working outside of the library, you must place your things in a locker. You must have a plastic and transparent bag (tüte) for your work things and must also only have a transparent water bottle for water. (I tried proving to the security guard that my steel container of water was really just water, but he wasn't dealing with my antics.)
Thankfully, these rules are (so far) across the board, so I was able to take my knowledge from my first library on to the next. I also obtained two library cards this week, allowing me access to one of the huge libraries in Potsdamer Platz and a fellow university library. This was the point where I also realized the word ,,Anmeldung" is not just for your housing registration, it's the overarching word for registration used in many contexts. (I had a bit of a light bulb moment in the library–fitting.)
The evening after my first day in the library, a friend and I went to Kreuzberg for the twice-weekly Turkish market where we bought more vegetables than we could carry. With only two Euros, I bought *twenty* peppers (I didn't have a choice in the amount), and my friend bought 2 kg of tomatoes. These prices are absolutely unbeatable (except for the avocado prices) and makes you question why you ever buy things in the supermarket.
Wednesday was another work day with plenty of fruitful research. My devices were unfortunately dying, though, so I decided to cut the day short and go thrift-shopping. I joined a friend to Hackesher Markt where we discovered quite the clothing finds at a store called Humana. I was really excited to find a thrift-store with decent clothing because I am not directly supplying my money to potential sweat-shop companies but am instead continuing to recycle clothing into the community. And additionally I'm able to buy clothing to supply my inner-desire of being Wednesday Adams.
This week has been exhausting for me but quite successful. I have found new ideas and potential articles for my consumption, and i look forward to what the next week has to come. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Here is a Johnny picture since I did not have any other photos in my post today:
